New Delhi, Feb 12: India's index of industrial production (IIP) contracted by 0.6 per cent in December 2012, as per government data released on Tuesday.

The downfall was contributed by a downfall in electricity generation grew 5.2 per cent, manufacturing sector output by 0.7 per cent, and mining sector output by 4 per cent.
