New Delhi: Automobile major Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday said the global roll-out of its new SUV (sports utility vehicle) 'Creta' will start from the second half of 2015 in India.
Acording to the company, the “Hyundai Creta” will be an influential global model for the company in one of the fastest-growing vehicle segments, helping it to reach out to many more consumers in new and established international markets.
'Creta' name is simple and easy to remember. Pronunciation of Creta evokes welcome similarities with the term ‘creative'. Interestingly, the company will use the Creta name for the global markets as well, said the carmaker in a statement.
Based on Hyundai ix25, the Creta SUV will not be a sub-4 metre car, which is expected to measure about 4.27 metre in length. This sports utility vehicle will directly rival against Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano. It will share its styling cues with the Santa Fe SUV and engine lineup with the Verna sedan.
The vehicle will be available in two petrol and two diesel engine options. While the petrol units will be 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre motors, the oil burners (diesel) will be 1.6-litre U2 CRDi and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi.
The petrol motors will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox whereas the diesel engine will be coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox.
