New Delhi, Nov 2: HTC has introduced two new Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system based smartphones - Windows Phone 8X and Windows Phone 8S - in India. The new HTC phones will be available from this month. The Windows Phone 8X is priced at Rs 35,023 while the Windows Phone 8S has a price tag of Rs 19,260.
The new Windows Phone 8X is the flagship Windows Phone 8 device and features 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display with 720p HD native resolution. The display panel has been built using Corning Gorilla Glass 2 technology for strength and resistance from scratches. It has only 10.12 mm thickness.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X has a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 mobile processor and the Adreno 225 graphics. HTC has packed a 1 GB RAM and 16 GB on-board storage in the phone as well. There is no memory card slot provided so users will have to stick with the cloud storage solutions such as Skydrive. At the back, the Windows Phone 8X has an 8 megapixel camera with LED Flash. This camera offers continuous autofocus and offers recording video at 1080p HD resolution. There is a 2 megapixel front facing camera touting to be powerful enough for recording 1080p HD video. Both image sensors get the dedicated HTC ImageSense chip for clearer and better imaging.
Running the new Windows Phone 8 mobile OS, the 8X has also incorporates the Beats Audio sound enhancements for best quality audio output with Beats Audio headphones and earphones. Other features include Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, accelerometer, and also Near Field Communication. There is no FM radio mentioned but we believe that the chip might be residing inside it. HTC has added 1800 mAh battery to the Windows Phone 8X smartphone. This premium smartphone has been priced at Rs 35,023.
HTC Windows Phone 8S
HTC Windows Phone 8S is a mid-range smartphone. It comes with 4-inch LCD display supporting 800x480 pixel resolution natively. This smartphone weights about 113 grams and is 10.28 mm thick. It houses a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm S4 MSM8227 mobile processor and packs 512 MB RAM.
This smartphone offers only 4 GB on-board storage out of which some will be reserved for the system. Thankfully, there is a memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB micro SD card.
At the back of 8S rests a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, which is capable of recording 720p HD videos. There is no front facing camera. HTC has integrated the Beats Audio sound enhancement for better quality audio. HTC has packed 1700 mAh battery and priced this handset at Rs 19,260 which makes it over-all a great deal.
Both smartphones have an internal GPS chip with GLONASS support for better location and mapping accuracy.
Now all eyes are set on Nokia to introduce the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones with Windows Phone 8 operating system in India.
