New Delhi, July 9: Hiring activities in the country slumped in June across as companies remained cautious amid uncertain economic conditions, says a report. Job portal Naukri.com today said that many sectors including IT-Software, BPO and ITeS, Telecom, Banking and Financial Services, witnessed lower recruitment activities last month compared to May.
Indicating sluggishness in the labour market, the monthly Naukri Job Speak index declined to 1,230 last month from 1,317 in May. The index - a gauge of monthly online hiring trends – has been falling since April when it stood at 1,368.
Demand for professionals in HR, sales and accounts also showed a dip in hiring numbers in the range of 7-12 per cent in June, the report said. "The macroeconomic environment is still not very robust and the pattern of job creation in this quarter has been quite symbolic of caution... taking cues from the weakened global economic parameters," Info Edge (India) MD and CEO Hitesh Oberoi said in a statement. Naukri.com is part of Info Edge group.
Besides, all major cities including Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad also saw sluggish recruitment activities last month, it added.
