New Delhi: Google's much-awaited Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) kicked off on Wednesday featuring over 400 partners offering deals and discounts. The GOSF will be a three day event taking place from December 10-12.

As part of its 'exclusive launch corner' Google India has launched Nexus 6 smartphone which will be available from tomorrow at a premium price of Rs 43,999 in the country. Apart from Nexus 6, Google also launched Chromecast for Rs 2,999 and introduced some other products of companies like Lenovo, Asian Paints, Tata Housing and Van Heusen for GOSF.

For Chromecast, Google has partnered with Bharti Airtel and Snapdeal. Existing broadband users of Airtel can access 60 GB of data for three months when they purchase a Chromecast, while new customers can get the same, and zero activation fee for their new broadband service.

"The GOSF's first edition took place in 2012 with 90 merchants and this year, we have 450 merchants. Consumer confidence to shop online is on the rise in India and in the last few weeks, over 5 million users have visited to gosf.in site," Google India Managing Director Rajan Anandan said during the launch.

Google said GOSF has been introduced with an objective to promote online shopping in India. In its exclusive section the company is offering deals for Airtel Infinity TV, Auxus RIST smartwatch, BBPC Card – 5000, designers collection, and more.

This time GOSF has also launched a new section this year ‘Rs 299 Corner'. This new section caters to the first time buyers with products with huge discounts and also free shipping and cash on delivery option. The best deals of thegosf.com at Rs 299 are compact and stylish designed Sandisk Cruzer Blade 16 GB Pen Drive, Lenovo wireless mouse N 100 and Philips QT4000 trimmer.

Google India has partnered Aditya Birla Money My Universe as a preferred partner for this year's event.

GOSF is currently in its third edition and was initially launched in 2012 by Google to boost the adoption of online shopping in India.

According to Google, GOSF saw 2 million visitors last year. For GOSF 2013, Google said the peak time of traffic was between 2pm and 8pm each day, with 62 percent viewers coming from the 18 to 34-year old category.
