New Delhi: Freedom 251 has been officially launched in New Delhi by a Noida-based firm named Ringing Bells. The pre-booking for the Rs 251 smartphone, that started today but soon came to a haul, will resume within 24 hours.
Today, the smart-phone received nearly six lakh hits per second, which resulted in the overloading of its servers. Ringing Bells, however, said that bookings should be open within 24 hours. The company is now in talks with other e-commerce portals including Amazon, to start the booking on their portals.
Ashok Chaddha, President, ringing bell on Freedom 251, says “The website has crashed due to overloaded booking by customers. We are talking to all other e-commerce websites including Amazon to start the booking soon.”
He added, “We have distributed out sale to 25 Lakh online and 25 Lakh offline in the retail stores for customer benefit. Also we will complete our delivery from March end that will continue till 30th June.”
Freedom 251 features a 4-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) IPS display, and Qualcomm 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with 1GB of RAM. It offers 8GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
It comes with a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera at the back and a VGA selfie camera. In terms of connectivity it supports 3G and is preloaded with apps like Women Safety, Swachh Bharat, Farmer, Fisherman, Medical, Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube among others.
Ringing Bells will also offer a year warranty on Freedom 251 and is coming with more than 650 service centers across the country.
