Five new cars expected to be launched this Diwali

New Delhi, Oct 12: Carmakers are banking heavily on new product launches across segments and markets, to lure customers back to showrooms and in turn revive a slowing market. Festive period is considered to be the best time of the year to launch new cars when most of the people go for the purchase. India TV Auto takes a look at some of the new model that users can expect during the festive season.Maruti Alto 800:Maruti Suzuki India, the king of small cars in India, is all set to launch an upgraded Alto, in the form of the Alto 800. Maruti Suzuki's Alto has been its best-selling car for the last twelve years and with new ravamped version, the company is hopeful of similar, if not bigger, success this time round as well. The new Alto 800 is sleeker and sportier than the previous model, thanks to higher mounted headlights, a chrome strip running across its front grille, and sculpted bumpers. On the inside, the company has reportedly refurbished its interiors with new upholstery and even the dashboard. There is slight improvement in boot space thanks to the seats that have been scooped in just like in the Alto K10. Maruti claims that this new Alto 800 will offer 22.74 kmpl which is 15 per cent more efficient than the previous generation Alto. The car will be available in three petrol variants, and three CNG variants. It is likely to be priced in between Rs 2.5-3 lakh range.Ford Figo Facelift:Ford is expected to launch the revamped version of its existing popular model Figo. Media reports suggest that the facelift version of the new Figo hatchback will have stylish body design in terms of new headlamps, a new grille, a new airdam design, restyled bumper and tail lamps. It will also sport new alloy wheels and interior enhancements in form of a new two tone color on the seat fabric and dashboard. The new model will have a push-button starter like the one found in the Nissan Micra which is already existent in the Nissan Micra, Renault Pulse and the Hyundai i20. There will also be some fresh exterior colour options. The engine is expected to remain the same while the pricing may be slightly enhanced by Rs 10,000-15,000 in India across variants.Tata Indigo Manza Club Class:Tata Motors is updating its Indigo Manza saloon line-up that has not been able to deliver the desired sales for the company. The new update will be brought in five variants - LS Aqua, LX Aura, VX Aura ABS, EX Elan and the EXL New Variant. The new model is expected to come with some inspiring new interior and exterior attributes along with superior and more powerful engine under their hoods. While the exterior seems to be more refined, there will be some noticeable improvements on the inside. Some of the noteworthy features include: multimedia touchscreen, automatic climate control, exquisite detailing on the insides of doors. The top-end model will include electrical HVAC controls, height adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, boot lamp, tilt adjustable power steering and fixed rear seat with foldable back amongst others. The Indigo Manza Club Class will be available in both diesel and petrol guises in the Indian entry-level sedan market.Tata Safari Storme:The Safari Storme is a face-lift to the existing model. The most visible change on the outside seems to be in form of a new honeycomb grille, projector headlamps and a 'power bulge' on the bonnet. On the back side, the model gets chrome-tipped twin exhausts along with half greyed-out tailgate with the spare tyre now placed under the SUV. The model is powered by a more refined and responsive 2.2 liter DiCOR engine that develops 142PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Other significant improvements include a shorter turning radius, disc brakes all round and ABS. The version is likely to get four-wheel-drive, with toggle switch which can be used on-the-fly. The car will compete against Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster and the Chevrolet Tavera and M&M SUV 500. Honda Brio Automatic:It is a welcome addition for those looking for an affordable automatic hatchback. The model sports the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit that produces 88PS at 6000rpm and 109Nm of max torque at 4500rpm. The car's compact dimensions make it ideal for urban commuting. The transmission system of the car quickly detects changes in throttle inputs and drops gears accordingly. This is important when it comes to overtaking. The car attains 0-100 kmph of speed in 17.1 seconds (4.25 seconds slower to the manual). The Brio Automatic is likely to come at a premium of Rs 60,000 – 70,000 over the manual version. The car will be available in S(O) and V variants, and will feature ABS as standard while the top end V variant will even feature dual airbags.
