New Delhi: Social networking giant Facebook on Monday said it will match the donations made by people to International Medical Corps for victims of Nepal earthquake, up to $2 million.

"Donate to International Medical Corps today and Facebook will match your donation. Facebook will match your donation up to $2 million to contribute to local relief organisations," Facebook said in a statement.

It added 100 per cent of the donation will go to International Medical Corps and their work in response to the Nepal earthquake. An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.8 struck Nepal near the capital of Kathmandu on April 25.

Facebook said more than 2,000 people have died across the region, including in Nepal, India and Bangladesh, and thousands more were injured.

"International Medical Corps is on the ground helping the earthquake survivors and they need our support," it added.
