New Delhi, July 17: Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry has hired Nirmalya Kumar, London Business School professor and top-notch marketing strategist, to head strategy for the Rs 5.05 lakh crore empire. Kumar would be joining the group from August 1 this year. He will report to Mistry and be responsible for strategy at the group level.
Kumar, a key proponent of the three Vs of marketing - valued customer, value network and value proposition, is also known as consultant, coach and speaker. He has authored books like “Marketing As Strategy: Understanding the CEO's Agenda for Driving Growth and Innovation”
Kumar is a graduate from the Calcutta University in B Com before doing his MBA from University of Illinois Chicago and PhD in marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. His personal homepage at the London Business School website says he is the custodian of 'among the largest known private collection of paintings of Jamini Roy and Rabindranath Tagore'.
