Mumbai: Edible and non-edible prices witnessed a spurt at the beginning of the 'Samvat-2070' a special muhurat session at the oils and oilseeds market here yesterday.
Groundnut oil maintained its rising trend on the back of sustained offtake from stockists and retailers amid ongoing festivities.
Refined palmolein also traded a token up at the session. In non-edible segmet, linseed oil rose sharply due to heavy demand from paint and allied industries. Castorseeds bold and castoroil commercial also firmed up owing to better enquiries from shippers and soap units.
Castorseeds futures advanced on good speculative support amid higher export enquiries.
In the edible section, groundnutoil shot up by Rs 10.25 per 10 kg to Rs 890.25 from Saturday's closing level of Rs 880 and refined palmolein slightly up by 25 paise per 10 kg to Rs 605.25 from Rs 605.
Turning to non-edible segment, linseed oil surged by Rs 20.25 per 10 kg to Rs 810.25 from 790. Castorseeds bold climbed by Rs 26 per 100 kg to Rs 3,526 from Rs 3,500 and castoroil commercial moved up by Rs 5.25 per 10 kg to Rs 735.25 as against Rs 730 previously.
Moving to futures, castorseed December contract resumed higher at Rs 3,818 and gained further to Rs 3,832 before finishing at Rs 3,819 as compared to Rs 3,810 yesterday, showing a modest gain of Rs 9 per tonne.
