New Delhi: Microsoft has launched the dual-SIM Nokia Lumia 530 in India at Rs. 7,349.
The USP of Lumia 530, which succeeds the popular Lumia 520, is its affordability. With a price tag of Rs 7,349, the phone easily qualifies as one of the cheapest Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
The smartphone was launched on July 23 along with its single SIM variant, which has identical specifications except support for two SIM cards.
Microsoft Lumia 530 has been designed as a low-end device and seems to sit somewhere between the scrapped Nokia X, Nokia's S40-based feature phones and Asha touchscreen ranges.
On the design front, the Lumia 530 takes cues from its Nokia X devices than the Lumia 520. On the specs front too, the new smartphone holds similarities with the Nokia X.
The new low-end Lumia comes with FWVGA display and has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, and has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and a MicroSD slot that supports up to 128GB. The smartphone also offers its users 15GB of free cloud storage.
The Lumia 530's camera has a five-megapixel sensor, and offers a removable 1430 mAh battery. Microsoft claims that the Lumia 530 will provide a maximum talk-time of up to 10 hours on 3G networks, and nearly 14 hours on 2G carriers.
For those who want a phone for high-end gaming, the new Lumia 530 can come as a disappoint, as it only offers 512MB RAM, which is in no way sufficient to run high-end games. In addition, users may also expect a lag in performance as Windows Phone 8.1 works well with at least a 1GB/2GB RAM.
Running on Windows 8.1 would mean that it will include the Cortana voice assistant where it's available, and Microsoft's new Action Center for notifications and all of Microsoft's apps.
The device will be available in orange, bright green, white, and dark grey.
