New Delhi: Mahindra Racing, automaker Mahindra & Mahindra's motor sports division, has announced that it will join the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship which kicks off in September 2014.
Mahindra's entry means it will be the sole Indian team that will take part in the new zero emission series.
Under the FIA Formula E Championship, races will be conducted across 10 leading cities, including London. The championship helps create awareness about electric vehicles (EV) and help EV technology.
Earlier in 2011, Mahindra Racing had already participated in the FIM MotoGP World Motorcycle Racing Championship. Then it took part in the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship.
The company believes the Formula E racing will help showcase its electric vehicle technology across the globe.
