New Delhi: The Gionee Elife S5.5, which the Chinese handset maker claims to the world's slimmest smartphone, is now available via retail stores across India. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 22,999.
The talking point of Elife S5.5 is its sleek form factor with 5.5mm thickness and weight of 130 g. India is the second country after China to get the phone. The smartphone comes with a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, one of the first to be featured on a non-Samsung phone. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass display and thin metal chassis which gives its slender and premium looks.
The display seems to be a strong point for the Elife S5.5 which delivers sharp and vivid text, accurate color reproduction, good viewing angles, and good contrast.
The device delivers superb performance through an octa-core 1.7 GHz processor. The chipset has not yet been specified, though it's likely to be MediaTek's MT6592, which is also seen in the Elife E7 Mini.
On the imaging front, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on company's Amigo OS, a heavily-skinned version of Android 4.2, which adds some interesting shortcuts and homescreens in addition to the standard Android screens.
Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS/A-GPS. All of this is fuelled by a Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery.
The S5.5 will come in several colors, including white and gold combo.
