New Delhi: Facebook has received criticism from its users for allegedly copying Twitter like trending feature. Users have called the new feature nothing more than a cheap Twitter knock-off and they want it gone.
Facebook introduces the Trending feature in several countries last week, including the U.S., U.K. and Canada. The feature appears to the right of the main news feed and displays links to trending topics in areas like entertainment, sports and news.
The feature highlights topics that are being talked about on Facebook or that appeal to a particular user. Recently, it was Justin Bieber, because of his arrest due to drunk driving.
According to some users the new feature is annoying, irrelevant, and too focused on celebrity gossip.
Few are suggesting users download “F.B. Purity,” a third-party browser extension meant to let people filter out chunks of content, including ads, from their Facebook accounts.
