New Delhi, July 16: Canadian phone maker BlackBerry has launched its much-awaited lower-priced BlackBerry Q5 in the Indian market at a price of Rs Rs 24,990. The smartphone will hit select Indian stores from July 20 and in select stores from July 17.

The BlackBerry Q5 is the second hardware keyboard (QWERTY) equipped smartphone running the new BlackBerry 10.1 operating system. The smartphone was first showcased at the BlackBerry Live Conference, in May 2013.

The Q5 sports a 3.1-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720X720 pixels. The screen on the smartphone is an IPS LCD one, unlike the Q10 which sports a Super AMOLED screen.

It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and packs 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage. Its storage can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card in this phone.

The Q5 sports a 5MP camera with LED flash on the back and 2MP camera in front. This mid-range smartphone runs on a 2,180mAh battery.

Connectivity options of Q5 include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and NFC.

Clearly, the Q5 is aimed at those who want a keyboard and a cheaper option than the Q10. The company is targeting consumers in emerging markets and looks to capture the market share it is losing to Apple's iPhone and other high-end Android devices.

The device will be available in India in four colours – red, black, white and pink.
