A peek into 2013 Honda Dream Yuga motorcycle

New Delhi, Aug 4: Aiming to capture the mass market 110 cc segment, Honda has launched the 2013 Edition of the Dream Yuga commuter motorcycle, equipped with Honda Eco Technology (HET). The motorcycle costs Rs 45,101 ex showroom Delhi and holds the same price as the earlier Dream Yuga model. Recently, as per a report, Honda motorcycle and scooter India private limited (HMSI), the only Honda in Indian 2 wheeler industry, overtook Bajaj Auto in both domestic and overseas sales in July to claim the second position. This was largely due to the demand generated by the 'Dream series' motorcycles. HMSI had started its business in India with a scooter portfolio to tap the market that had virtually no major players and entered the fiercely competitive motorcycle market later.The new 2013 edition of Dream Yuga is available in three variants (Kick/Drums/Spoke, Kick/ Drum/Alloy and Self/ Drum/Alloy) along with five color options (Black, Monsoon Grey Metallic, Alpha Red Metallic, Force Silver Metallic & Maple Brown Metallic). The top-end version of the motorcycles comes with tubeless tyres.The 2013 Dream Yuga comes with HET which according to the company helps in reducing friction in engine components by usage of lightweight materials that enhances the overall efficiency of engine by 11 per cent. The HET also reduces the bike's weight by 8 per cent, thus increasing power to weight ratio. The Dream Yuga weighs 108kg. It is a 110cc bike that delivers a peak power of 8.5bhp and 8.91 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 4 speed gearbox. HMSI claims that the bike has a max fuel economy of 72-74kmpl, a figure that is 2 Kmpl higher than the non-HET engined model. Despite fierce competition in the 110 cc segment, HMSI claims it has sold over 3 lakh units of the Dream Yuga have been sold within the first year of its launch. Honda is planing to become number one in this commuter motorcycle segment by 2016.
