2014 Honda Jazz unveiled in Japan [Pictures and Details]

New Delhi: The 2014 Honda Jazz Fit has been launched in Japan for Rs 8.36 lakh (rupee equivalent). The new generation model has a number of styling upgrades from its predecessor along with a new hybrid system.The new Jazz Fit has been launched in three engine options – a 1.3-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine (available with a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission), a 1.5-liter DOHC (available with a CVT or a 6-speed manual) and a 1.5-liter hybrid (with a 7-speed DCT). All variants are available with 2WD or 4WD. All the three variants of the 2014 Honda Jazz come in both, two-wheel and four-wheel drive options.The Japanese auto maker has done impressive work in improving in overall quality of the vehicle, be it in terms of styling, performance or interiors. The new Jazz now comes with a redesigned facia that follows the pattern on its siblings while flaunting a new grille design.The base version of the Honda Jazz is equipped with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol powertrain that is capable of generating an output of around 98 bhp along with peak torque of 119 Nm. This variant is going to be mated to either five-speed manual gearbox or a Continuous Variable Transmission. The other petrol version of the new Jazz hatchback has been fitted a 1.5-litre direct injection engine, which produces a superb output of 130 bhp and top torque of 155 Nm. The new Jazz also comes with a hybrid version that features the SPORT HYBRID i-DCD technology, which powers the 1.5-litre engine that in turn is attached to an electric motor. The hybrid version is capable of generating an output of around 135 bhp and renders a mileage of approximately 36.4 kmpl.Jazz's performance upgrades include a number of aero dynamic body kits of which the most notable are the carbon fibre rear spoiler and front aero bumper. The optional list also includes sports suspensions and silencers, along with performance brake pads and a number of two tone alloy wheels.The car also likely feature the five-speed auto box (petrol only) found on the Amaze and the Brio models.The car is also expected to have a class-leading 390-litre boot space and a slightly extended wheelbase of 2.58m.Sources have claimed that the Honda Jazz, when launched in India, will not be getting the tuning kit that has been provided by Mugen. However, the Indian version will have to do with the standard engine option found on the Amaze; a 1.2-litre petrol mill and the new 1.5-litre diesel engine.Given the tough competition in the price sensitive Indian market, the Jazz will be priced at about Rs 4.7 lakh for the petrol and Rs 6.5 for the diesel.
