New Delhi: Micromax's sub-brand Yu Televentures has launched its new flagship Yu Yunicorn. The smartphone will be exclusively available on Flipkart in three colour options. The smartphone comes at Rs 12,999 and at this price the Yu Yunicorn competes well with the newly launched Motorola Moto G4 Plus.
So here is a head-to-head smartphone comparison of the devices.
Price: The Yunicorn is priced at Rs 12,999, and it will be exclusively available on Flipkart. But the catch here is that the price quoted is only an initial offer. After one month, the phone will be available for Rs 14,999. The Moto G4 Plus, on the other hand, is available in two storage variants – 16GB variant with 2GB RAM at a price of Rs 13,499 and 32GB variant with 3GB of RAM at Rs 14,499. It is exclusively available on Amazon India. Both the phones are in the sub-15K category.
Design and display: Despite the low price tag, the Yunicorn features a 5.5 inch full HD display with a bit of premium-ness added to the device as a 2.5D curved glass. The curved glass is not present in other smartphones at this price range. On the other hand, Moto G4 Plus is light and fits easily in your hand and is also a 5.5-inch full HD TFT display.
Processor: The Yunicorn runs MediaTek’s Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz processor. The Helio P10 brings improvements in power management, multimedia and overall processing. YU has paired the Helio P10 with 4GB of RAM, which is the highest in this price segment. While, the Moto G4 Plus comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage, or 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage which can also be expanded and gives smooth experience.
Software: YU has opted a near-stock Android experience. The smartphone runs on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box with a new OS called ‘Android on Steroids’ and it comes with a bunch of nifty features like a monochromatic mode to save battery, a vertical app drawer and more. But the good thing in Moto G4 Plus is that it runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS.
Camera: The Yunicorn is equipped with a combination of 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel selfie cameras. And the Moto G4 Plus is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with a laser auto focus, phase detection auto focus and dual LED flash for better photography and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Battery: Yu Yuphoria is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support and the company claims that it is good enough to last four days for casual users, while, the Moto G4 Plus is armed with a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower charging support.
