New Delhi: Facebook has updated its messenger app for Android. The company has added a new feature which will allow users to send and receive SMS messages within the app.
“Today we are enabling people to use SMS in Messenger for Android to communicate with their family, friends and phone contacts. What this means is you will now have the choice to be able to send and receive your SMS/texts in Messenger and will not have go to different screens on your phone to communicate,” Facebook said announcing the development.
Follow these simple steps to send/receive SMS in Messenger:
1. Open Messenger and go to Settings
2. Select “SMS” from the list
3. Turn on “Default SMS app"
4. This will allow to send direct messages to the person you want to have chat with.
With this update the users will be able to switch to a different app as the primary SMS app from device settings, or directly from the app.
When you start, the SMS conversations will be in purple and the Messenger conversations will be in blue.
The SMS update will support standard text, images, videos, audio, stickers, emojis, and location sharing. Though the new popular GIFs cannot be used with money, and make voice, video calls and request transportation.
