Having reached a customer base of 100 million since its launch, Reliance Jio is now set to start the enrolments for the Jio Prime membership, marking an end to its free offers that had swept the market.
The enrolment begins today and is open for all the existing Jio customers as well as new users who purchase a SIM before March 31.
While there are no specific details on the actual pricing yet, it is likely that the price of the subscription will shoot up once the promotional period is over.
Under the Reliance Jio Prime subscription plan, existing subscribers and new customers who come on board by March 31, 2017, can continue to enjoy unlimited benefits of its 'Happy New Year Offer' for one more year (that is March 31, 2018) by paying one-time fee of Rs. 99 and Rs. 303 a month.
“The Rs. 99 plus Rs. 303 is not a bad price point ... if the ARPUs (Average Revenue Per User) can be brought to Rs 300 from the current Rs. 180,” COAI Director General Rajan S Mathews said.
In addition to unlimited data and calling benefits, Jio Prime Members will get complimentary access to Jio Media Services that include JioTV, JioCinema, JioMusic, JioMags and JioExpressNews.
For subscription, users can use the MyJio app for Android or iOS or visit Jio.com to become a Jio Prime member. They can also visit Reliance Digital, Jio Retail Store or any Jio Partner Store to enroll for the membership.
Last week, Jio had disclosed just the new Rs 303 monthly tariff plan when it announced the subscription, but now a new report claims that the telecom operator will offer two other monthly plans as well.
Reliance Jio will reportedly offer a Rs. 149 pack under which subscribers will receive unlimited voice calls and 2GB 4G data without any daily cap for a month. Another pack will be cost Rs. 499, and will also offer 60GB 4G data with 2GB daily data cap while will offer unlimited voice calls.
