After almost a year of being stuck with Lollipop, OnePlus has released OnePlus X’s the OxygenOS 3.1.0 community preview, which is based on Google's Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Earlier, OnePlus had promised that X will eventually receive an upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but had never specified a timeline for the upgrade.
With this community preview, the company has indicated that the final build may not be too far out for OnePlus X users.
As this isn’t a final build, users may have to deal with several performance and stability issues. Moreover, those who flash a community build on their handsets may have to a factory reset if they’re coming from a custom recovery or custom ROM.
The users may also face compatibility issues with some third-party applications.
Along with the community preview announcement, OnePlus X is likely to come with some important enhancements.
The update is expected to bring two new applications – OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery. Moreover, the Oqygen OS 3.1.0 contains the latest August 1 security patches for Anroid.
Despite announcing that the OnePlus X series wouldn’t be continuing, the company is still supporting and upgrading the X series.
