New Delhi: Flipkart-owned online fashion retailer Myntra is shifting its focus from the current mobile-only model and is about to re-launch its desktop site on June 1.

According to reports by Mint, the company expects 15-20 percent of its sales in this financial year to come from the return of the website. This move has taken about a year after Myntra was converted into an app-only model, which was criticized by many analysts and investors as an ill-thought one that would alienate many shoppers.

However Myntra re-launched its mobile site in February in an attempt to bring back all its lost customers.

"We found that while a majority of the growth is driven by mobile, the volume of users on desktop hasn't decreased," Myntra chief executive Ananth Narayanan said in the report.

"We've launched a number of new categories such as home furnishing and (fine) jewellery where customers want to see products on a larger screen. Finally, according to our data, women customers, who are a key area of focus for us, in particular, want to have the option of shopping across channels,” he added.

The re-launch follows Amazon’s announcement of expanding its fashion portfolio and investing on Indian operations. Amazon has invested at least Rs 6,700 crore since January 2015 into its India unit, Amazon Seller Services, where almost half of that amount has been been invested since December.
