New Delhi: Motorola is all set to bring back the Razr flip phone - as an Android handset. The Lenovo-owned company has released a teaser of the new handset promising it will 'flip back to the Razr days of yesteryear and get ready for the future.'

The new Razr handset will be unveiled at a Lenovo event on 9th June.

The video shows a high school set up and the ad starts with a girl sending a text message saying “ILYSM.” Throughout the video, students are engaged using their Motorola RAZRs. It is the same Moto RAZR that was extremely successful in the mid-2000s. 

The Razr phone was first released in 2004 and was initially marketed as an exclusive fashion phone. The RAZR V3 sold more than 130 million units, becoming the best-selling flipphone in the world till date.

Again later in 2007, a second version, called the Razr2 was unveiled, which had a touch screen. Then in October 2011, Motorola brought back the Razr brand for a line of Android smartphones; the Droid Razr for Verizon Wireless, also known simply as 'Motorola RAZR'.

According to the rumors, the next device is most likely to be the Moto Z. The company has recently announced plans to update its Moto X line-up with a Moto Z branding. The exclusive models will turn into Moto Z Style “DROID Edition” and Moto Z Play “DROID Edition.” Rumors also have it that Motorola will has at least two flagship smartphones that is the Vertex and Vector Thin.

The phone is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display and a 16-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus, fingerprint sensor mounted and more.
