New Delhi: LG recently announced its latest flagship smartphone, the G5, which is available on sale via Flipkart. The key highlight of LG G5 is its modular functionality that allows users to swap out the modules. The LG G5 will be compared with another newly launched smartphone - HTC 10.
Here’s a comparative analysis between the two:
Price: LG G5 is available for Rs 52,990 via Flipkart and is being offered at an exchange bonus of up to Rs 15,000, bringing down the cost to Rs 37,989. On the other hand, the HTC 10 is also priced at Rs 52,990 and will be available for purchase from June 5.
Design and display: The LG G5 sports a metal back and a removable bottom section, whereas, HTC has continued with its all metal unibody frame for the HTC 10. The front panel of the HTC 10 has a 2.5D curved glass and the metal back adds to its aesthetics. The LG G5 flaunts a 5.3-inch QHD (2560×1440pixels) IPS display with ‘Daylight’ mode. Also, there is a ‘Always On’ display that shows time, calendar and notifications. The HTC 10, on the other hand, comes with a 5.2-inch QHD Super LCD 5 display, but lacks the ‘Always On’ feature.
Specification: Both the LG G5 and HTC 10 are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. On the storage front, both the smartphones come with 32GB onboard storage along with a microSD card slot for further expansion. Also, both run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and come with respective custom skin running atop. LG has its own custom UI and HTC 10 has a layer of Sense 8 UI.
Camera: LG come with a 16-megapixel 78-degree lens and 8-megapixel 135-degree wide angle lens. And HTC 10 has a 12-UltraPixel rear camera of aperture f/1.8 along with optical image stabilization (OIS), laser auto-focus, and 4K video recording capabilities. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera of aperture f/1.8, which also comes with auto-focus and OIS functionality.
Battery and connectivity: The LG G5 and HTC 10 are equipped with 2,800mAh and 3,000mAh batteries respectively. Both the smartphones come with a Quick Charge 3.0 feature that can charge the battery from 0-50 percent in 30 minutes. In terms of connectivity, the smartphones comes with 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS and the new USB Type-C port.
