New Delhi: The buzz of the most controversial smartphone of the decade Freedom 251 has barely been settled, and here’s another candidate of the cheapest smartphone in India.

Docoss Multimedia Private Limited, a Jaipur based smartphone maker has launched their first ultra-affordable 3G smartphone called Docoss X1. The phone costs Rs 888 and the company promises to deliver the smartphone by May 2.

The pre-booking has already started and the company claims that one only needs to provide their name, address and pin code to book a Docoss X1 unit. One can either provide the details on the company’s website or send the details via SMS to a hotline number. Although the company links on the website do not work and show error.

After the Freedom 251 controversy another India-based brand - mPhone - made headlines about its credibility and was reportedly arrested at the launch of the brand for bank fraud.

Even if the Docoss X1 smartphone actually goes on sale for Rs 888 it is recommend to buy a sub-Rs 1,000 feature phone than this “smartphone” with controversies.

Docoss X1 sports a 4-inch IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 4GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. The smartphone features a 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA selfie camera, and a 1,300mAh battery. In terms of connectivity the device includes dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It runs on Android KitKat 4.4.
