New Delhi: In a show of support for Raghuram Rajan, Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy has said that Rajan deserves two more terms as the RBI Governor. Murthy said that the country is fortunate to have him and should offer two more terms in recognition of his track record in routing the monetary policy.
"India should be very fortunate to have him (Rajan) serve this country for not just one, I would say two more terms," he said in a media interview.
The remarks come at a time when there appears to be a deep divide between a certain section of politicos on one hand and a majority of the corporate bigwigs on the other.
BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has opposed Rajan’s re-appointment and written several letters to the Prime Minister implicating him on several counts. On the other hand, an ET survey in May revealed that 90 per cent of CEOs wanted Rajan to stay on as the RBI Governor.
Murthy, 69, also lend his support and praised the Narendra Modi government. He told that the "dynamism and enthusiasm between the ministers and the bureaucrats" of Modi govt is commendable, which was not seen in the past 12 years.
He also gave a high regard to Vishal Sikka who had managed Infosys in a great way. Murthy appointment Sikka as the first non-founder CEO of Infosys and praised him told that he has a great job so far. "Overall, I think he has done a good job. I mean results are there," said Murthy. He added "At the end of the day, anybody who does good for Infosys, is to be appreciated, that's all."
Infosys was founded in 1981 by NR Narayana Murthy with Nandan Nilekani, S Gopalakrishan, SD Shibulal, KDinesh, NS Raghavan and Ashok Arora.
