New Delhi: Facebook has updated its Messenger app for iOS users. The social media giant claims that the features will bring several changes to how users start a conversation.
The redesign of Facebook messenger comes just a few days after Apple unveiled a host of updates to iMessage.
The features include:
- An updated home screen that will pop up as soon as you open the app. The pop will have all the most recent sent and received messages, which are followed by your favourite contacts.
- The Home tab will also give reminders for important upcoming events and birthdays. Users will be able to quickly wish someone a happy birthday with a simple tap from the new Messenger homescreen.
- The tab will provide a list of friends that are currently online. But a particular contact can also be searched to start a conversation.
Here is what Facebook officially announced:
“Now, you’ll see your conversations and ways to connect right where you need them most. You’ll still see the first few most recent messages at the top of your screen, followed by a new Favorites section, which highlights people you message most frequently, so you can quickly pick up your last conversation.
We hope to show you other things happening on Messenger that you might be interested in, too. For example, with the Active Now section, you can see that a good friend or colleague is available in the moment. Maybe that will prompt you to say hi!
We’re also adding helpful reminders like people’s birthdays so you can wish them a happy day.”
The new Messenger will come with a refreshed Home interface and will soon start rolling out to iOS users. Facebook has not yet confirmed if the new feature will arrive on the Android version of the app.
Recently, Messenger gave a tribute to the UEFA Euro 2016 championship and introduced a football game dubbed Keepy Up hidden inside its app.
