New Delhi: Apple launched iPhone SE, the company’s latest smartphone in a smaller 4‑inch form factor but powerful features. Apple initially announced that the iPhone SE will start selling in India at Rs. 30,000, later it revised the price to Rs. 39,000, which is higher if compared to US price, which is $399 (approximately Rs. 26,500).
Now Redington, Apple’s official distributor in India, has announced that it will start selling the iPhone SE across 3000 retail outlets in the country, from April 8th, Friday. Also online retailers and operators are expected to carry the iPhone SE. The new iPhone SE will be available for pre-order starting from March 29th, next Tuesday. This will probably be the fastest launch of an iPhone in India.
Apple will be launching two variants of the iPhone SE in India — 16GB at a price of Rs. 39,000 and 64GB. The company hasn’t revealed the pricing of the 64GB variant yet.
The iPhone SE flaunts a 4-inch Retina Display, and is powered by an A9 processor paired with M9 co-processor. In terms of photography, the iPhone SE is equipped with a 12-megapixel iSight camera with support for Live Photos and 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, there is a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera with Retina Flash. It runs the updated iOS 9.3 operating system.
With this combination under the hood, the iPhone SE supports always-on ‘Hey Siri’ feature.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, and on the software front, it runs on iOS 9.3.
It will be available in Silver, Gray, Gold, Rose Gold colours variants.
