If you are an Airtel user considering switching over to Reliance Jio lured by its free offers, this should come as some welcome news for you.

In a move aimed at combating the ‘Jio effect’ of free data plans, the country’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel has launched cheap internet data pack for its 4G users.

The company said that it is offering 90 days free data plan priced at Rs 1,494 specifically for existing 4G users. New users will be able to avail it through first recharge of Rs 1494.

The data usage cap has been set to 30GB with a with a validity of 90 days. So, once users finish the 30GB data, they will get access to low-speed data which will correspond to 2G speeds.

The pack is currently available in Delhi and will be launched across other circles over the next few days, the company said in a statement.

“Customers with 4G handsets generally consume large amounts of data and this proposition is specifically aimed at them,” Ajai Puri, Director - Operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel, said.

“With this pack these customers can stay online round the clock without having to worry about exhausting their data limits or going for frequent recharges,” Puri added.

Just days ago, Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal had said that the company is well placed to take on Jio and that it has strongly executed its plans over the years.

Airtel is the number one telecom in the country with a subscriber base of over 25 crore.

Jio had earlier this month disrupted the industry with offers like free voice calls and 1GB internet data for Rs 50 only. The Mukesh Ambani owned company is at present offering free voice and data services till December 15.
