A tense moment unfolded as the helicopter carrying Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) National President Chirag Paswan narrowly avoided a crash near the helipad in Mohaddi Nagar of Bihar's Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency. The alarming incident occurred as Paswan's helicopter was in the process of landing at the designated helipad. However, it narrowly escaped a potential crash, raising serious concerns about the safety measures in place for such operations.

No injuries reported

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, and both Paswan and his team emerged unscathed. Nevertheless, the incident underscores the inherent risks associated with helicopter travel, particularly during critical moments like landing and takeoff.

Safety protocols under scrutiny

While the quick response of the pilot and the ground crew at the helipad likely averted a disaster, it prompts a closer examination of safety standards and protocols during high-profile visits. Questions may arise regarding the adequacy of safety measures and adherence to established procedures.

Chirag Paswan threatens legal action against Tejashwi Yadav

Chirag Paswan, the president of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), issued a stern warning of legal action against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly spreading "false" claims regarding his stance on reservations. Tejashwi Yadav, especially during rallies in the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency, which Paswan is contesting, has been asserting that the LJP (R) chief advocated eliminating reservations for affluent Dalits.

Denial and counteraction

When confronted by journalists regarding Yadav's statements, Paswan refuted the claims, labelling them as false. He urged Tejashwi Yadav to cease spreading misinformation, warning of potential legal repercussions. Paswan challenged Yadav to provide evidence of any statement made by him advocating the abolition of quotas for wealthy Dalits.

Strained relations

Despite a longstanding friendship rooted in the close relationship between their fathers, late Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad, Paswan and Yadav's political rivalry appears to have strained their rapport.

Electoral context

The LJP (R), a constituent of the NDA, is contesting in five out of Bihar's 40 parliamentary constituencies. It faces a direct contest with the RJD in three of these seats, including Hajipur, considered the pocket borough of Ram Vilas Paswan, where the opposition party has fielded Shiv Chandra Ram, a former MLA.
