Repolling at two booths in Bihar’s Khagaria Lok Sabha seat proceeded without any untoward incidents on Friday, as confirmed by an official. The voting commenced at 7 am at booth numbers 182 and 183, situated under the Beldaur assembly segment of the Khagaria parliamentary constituency, and continued uninterrupted until 6 pm.

Significantly, the decision for repolling was announced following the disruption caused due to the vandalization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) on May 7 during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier, during the polling on May 7, a group of unruly people stormed the two booths and vandalised the electronic voting machines, said a senior official of the CEO's office.

As of the latest update today, the Election Commission of India had not provided the polling percentage for the repolling. However, it's important to note that among the five Bihar seats ( Khagaria, Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, and Madhepura),  that went to polls in the third phase on May 7, Khagaria recorded the lowest number of voters, totaling 18.40 lakh, and witnessed a constituency turnout of 58.20 percent.

Meanwhile, sitting MP from Khagaria, Mehboob Ali Kaiser, who won the seat twice for the Lok Janshakti Party of late Ram Vilas Paswan, was denied a ticket this time. Ram Vilas Paswan's son Chirag Paswan, whose party is now known as LJP (Ram Vilas), a significant partner of NDA in Bihar has this time fielded Rajesh Verma from the seat. further prompting Kaiser to join RJD.
