Karakat Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Established in the delimitation of 2008, comprising three assembly segments each of Rohtas and Aurangabad districts, Karakat has, so far, always voted for the BJP-led NDA, which is backing former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha this time.

Karakat Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: In an interesting turn of events, Karakat Lok Sabha has been clinched by CPI-ML candidate Raja Ram Singh by a margin of 1,05,858 votes. The tussle between Upendra Kushwaha and Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh turned out to be fruitful for Raja Ram. Raja Ram was polled 3,80,581 votes against Pawan Singh (2,74,723 votes) and Upendra Kushwaha (2,74,723 votes). Karakat is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar. The state has 40 parliamentary seats. The Karakat seat comprises 6 Assembly segments including Nokha, Dehri, Karakat, Goh, Obra, and Nabinagar. The constituency is reserved for the general category candidates. The BJP, JD(U), and the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) are the main parties in the constituency. This time the constituency saw a three-way battle with BJP ally RLSP, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and the Independent. The region faces significant socio-economic challenges, characterized by underdeveloped agriculture, educational deficiencies, and insufficient health and legal services. Despite these hardships, the constituency has a rich history of political activism. Its strategic location, with direct road connections to Bhojpur and Aurangabad, further enhances its importance within Bihar's socio-political framework.

Karakat Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Key parties and candidates

The 2024 general elections witnessed a direct contest between the NDA candidate and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha, Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh and Opposition alliance candidate Rajaram Singh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). Pawan Singh threw his hat here after refusing to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Asansol seat offered by the BJP. As per the initial trends, NDA candidate Upendra Kushwaha is leading from this seat.

The polling in Karakat Lok Sabha constituency was held in the seventh phase on June 1 along with eight other constituencies of the state.

The result for the Karakat seat will be declared on June 4 along with the other 542 parliamentary constituencies of the country.

According to the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 54.68 per cent was recorded in the Karakat Constituency.

What happened in 2014 and 2019 elections?  

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Upendra Kushwaha from RLSP won the seat and was polled 338,892 votes with a vote share of 42.88%. RJD candidate Kanti Singh got 233,651 votes (29.56 %) and was the runner-up.Upendra Kushwaha defeated Kanti Singh by a margin of 105,241 votes.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Mahabali Singh from JD(U) won the seat with a margin of 84,542 votes. Mahabali Singh was polled 398,408 votes with a vote share of 46.00 % and defeated Upendra Kushwaha from BLSP who got 313,866 votes (36.10 %).
