In the early hours of Thursday, a severe accident in Bihar’s Bhojpur district claimed the lives of five people, including two women and a child, and critically injured three others. The accident occurred when a jeep veered off course and collided with a road divider on the Ara-Buxar road near the Bibiganj bridge, within the jurisdiction of the Gajrajganj police station.
About the victims
According to Bhojpur police, while the bodies of the deceased, identified as Bhoop Narayan Pathak (56), Bipul Pathak (26), Renu Devi (55), Arpita Pathak (25), and Harsh Kumar (3), were sent for post-mortem, the injured, identified as Khushi Kumari (22), Madhu Devi (27), and Beli Kumari (5) are presently undergoing treatment at the Ara district hospital. The police said, all the victims were residents of Kamaria village in Bhojpur district and were believed to be relatives.
Investigation underway
Meanwhile, speaking of the incident, Gajrajganj police station in-charge Hari Prasad Sharma reported that initial investigations indicate the jeep’s driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash. "Three individuals died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment," Sharma said.
He further said, investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is presently underway.
