The new Suzuki Burgman Street 125 scooter has been officially launched in India, priced at ₹ 68,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Burgman Street scooter has a 125 cc single-cylinder engine which makes around 8.7 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
The Burgman family of scooters is already on sale in the international markets with engine displacement reaching up to 650cc. The new Suzuki Burgman Street is now the only maxi scooter that is currently on sale in India.
With this set-up, the scooter should deliver a fuel efficiency of close to 40 kmpl. The scooter gets a front disc brake up front while the rear is taken care of with the help of a drum unit.
Some interesting addition to the package include a convenient front pocket with DC socket and USB charger. It also offers an under seat storage of 21.5 litre and a feet forward position that results in a cruiserish riding position.
Notable features include an LED headlamp and tail light, apron-mounted windscreen and an all-digital console borrowed from the Gixxer range.
Bookings for the scooter have commenced unofficially across dealerships in the country, with token amounts ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000, depending on the dealer. The Burgman Street will lock horns with the Honda Grazia, Honda Activa 125, Vespa LX 125, TVS NTorq and the Aprilia SR 125.
