The much awaited SUV from Volvo - XC40 - was finally launched in India on Wednesday at an introductory price of Rs 39.90 lakh (ex-showroom). XC40, which Volvo has labelled as its most affordable SUV, will come only in one diesel variant called - R-Design.
Talking about the design, the Volvo XC40 comes with the typical design from the Scandavaian vehicle manufacturer having a distinct front grille and large tail lamps. Black roof and blackened A-pillars are standard for all colour tones.
Inside, the Volvo XC40 boasts of a 9-inch Sensus system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel which gives it a premium look. Even the gear knob has a leather covering. The SUV comes equipped with a 13 speaker Harman Kardon sound system apart from 7 airbags. Host of in-cockpit features coupled with a panaromic sunroof adds to XC40's plush look.
Under the hood, the Volvo XC40 has a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which the company claims to deliver 187 bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Volvo XC40 will compete with Range Rover Evoque, BMW X1, Audi Q3 Mercedes-Benz GLA and also the Jaguar E-Pace.
