SYLHET, Bangladesh (AP) — Zimbabwe captain Hamilton Masakadza won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the opening test of a two-match series on Saturday.
Bangladesh handed debuts to allrounder Ariful Haque and left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam in the first test match to be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Regular captain Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal were ruled out of the test series due to injuries.
Leg-spinner Brandon Mavuta will make his debut for Zimbabwe, which has not won a test match in Bangladesh since 2001.
