LONDON (AP) — A ferry has collided with at least two yachts and ran aground while trying to berth at a harbor on the Isle of Wight off southern England.
The ferry company Red Funnel said the ferry is "aground but is watertight." The coast guard said 56 passengers onboard are safe and well, but lifeboats are searching the area after a member of the public reported hearing cries for help at the harbor.
The company said the ferry was sailing from Southampton to East Cowes and was trying to berth at Cowes Harbour in dense fog Sunday morning when it collided with "several small yachts."
It said workers are trying to refloat the vessel.
