CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — The family of a freelance German journalist says he has been jailed on espionage charges in Venezuela — allegations they deny.
Authorities haven't yet commented on the arrest of Billy Six, which took place three weeks ago.
German diplomats say they've been unable to visit the 31-year-old in the infamous Helicoide prison in Caracas
Six's father says police arrested his son on Nov. 17 and he was charged with espionage, rebellion and violating a security zone.
Six lives in a Berlin suburb and has travelled the globe as an independent journalist for 12 years, publishing his reports in right-wing outlets.
He was also jailed for three months in 2013 by the government of Syria's Bashar al-Assad after illegally entering the country to report on its civil war.
