LOS ANGELES (AP) — Awkwafina is a household name after a breakout summer in films like "Ocean's 8" and "Crazy Rich Asians," but the 29-year-old from New York City says she still feels pretty normal.
She never even intended to go into acting, but a viral YouTube video of her rapping caught the attention of Seth Rogen and suddenly she was getting auditions and roles.
She says she's just grateful for the opportunities and wouldn't be mad if it all ended tomorrow.
But she is undeniably on the rise, with a Comedy Central show based on her life in the works, two films premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this January and the "Crazy Rich Asians" sequel.
