Shimla: Himachal Pradesh today bagged the award for excellence in promoting and popularising adventure tourism while Gujarat took home the trophy for being the best tourism destination in the country.
The award was given by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at the third International Tourism Conclave organised here today on the occasion of the ‘World Tourism Day'.
Best Religious Destination award was given to Tamil Nadu, Best Tourism Destination of India to Gujarat, best Rural Tourism Initiative award to Punjab, Best Wedding Destination award to Rajasthan and best Fairs and Festival Destination awar went to Andhra Pradesh.
Chandigarh was given the award for the Best Travel City, Maharaja's Express won the Best Luxury Train, Mauritius as the Best Outbound Tourism Board in India, Thailand as Outbound Wedding Destination, and Korea as the Best Outbound Film Location.
The Outbound Tourism Personality among Travel Trade award was presented to Manoharan Periasamy (Tourism Malaysia).
While the Best Weekend hotel award was claimed by Cambay Resort Jamdoli in Jaipur, Best Luxury Spa Resort went to Suryavilas Luxury.
Upcoming Hotel Chain award went to Pride Group of Hotels and best Outbound Tourism Marketing award was taken home by Malaysia.
