Kolkata: In a major reshuffle in the IPS cadre, 21 senior officials were today either promoted or transferred in West Bengal.
State secretariat sources said 12 senior officials have been promoted, while the rest nine transferred to various posts.
Among those promoted, IGP Armed Police in Kolkata Police Ranvir Kumar would take over as ADG Armed Police in the state. Dr Rajesh Kumar, OSD in the office of the Resident Commissioner of the state in Delhi would continue in the same office, but in the rank of ADG with a promotion. Debashis Roy, Additional Commissioner of Police (III) in city police have been promoted to ADG rank following his posting in the West Bengal Human Rights Commission.
Gyanwant Singh, DIG Murshidabad Range, have been promoted to IGP rank as Member Secretary, WBPRB (West Bengal Police Recruitment Board).
Supratim Sarkar, Jt CP Traffic in city police would take over as Addl CP Traffic in city police.
Dr Rajesh Kumar Singh DIG, SCRB (State Crime Record Bureau) in state police have been promoted to IGP rank as Special IG, Intelligence Branch in state police. K Jayaraman, DIG (Modernisation and Coordination) have been promoted to the rank of IGP in the same office. Pallab Kanti Ghosh, Jt CP (Crime) in city police have been promoted to the rank of Spl. Addl. CP (Crime) in the city police.
Among those transferred, Dr Sudhir Mishra, Special Commissioner of Police-I have been asked to take over as ADG in SCRB.
Sanjay Singh, IGP South Bengal, have been transferred as IGP-I, CID.
Dr R Sivakumar, IGP-II, CID, have been transferred to Kolkata Police as Addl CP-IV, the sources said.
