Shweta Basu Prasad, the little ‘Makdee' girl is the latest star caught in the muddy world of high-profile prostitution. Or shall we say she is the latest victim of a ‘secretly wrapped' glitzy-blitzy glamour world?

Quite a known face of the showbiz industry, Shweta Basu Prasad engraved her presence with her acting prowess in the early stages of her career. It is not difficult to recognize or recollecting her on screen presence and one can instantly remember her solid performances in films like ‘Makdee' and ‘Iqbal' or more precisely in a stupendous TV series ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.'

The actress who garnered tons of critical acclaim from her early childhood and cashed on it as she headed towards regional cinema was arrested from a dingy hotel in Hyderabad with the sex racket's organizer, Anjaneyulu alias Balu. Stating as the reason of her such a ‘socially unaccepted' step, the lady said, "I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless, and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act.”

Providing ‘support to the family,' or ‘running out of money,' can these be termed as the signaled reasons to sacrifice upon your dignity? Do you agree that any known face as of Shweta can lie in such a vacuum that nothing but selling out her body was the only spare way?

Whom do you blame here – the girl, the showbiz, wrong decisions or simply her will of surrendering to the ill circumstances by giving out her body?

A girl who probably had tasted the stardom at the age when a lot of people find themselves caught in various ‘teen struggles,' Shweta actually made the entire nation pat her back. So much appreciation she carved for herself that she even won national award for best child artist for her performance in Vishal Bharadwaj's ‘Makdee.'

Both ideally and logically, her reasons of hopping into the slushy world of prostitution don't seem justifying anything. Perhaps, the fact that child actors are more exposed or used to the world of glamour than the ones who engulf such frenzy much later, makes it difficult for them to accept a phase sans all the dazzles.

However, even if this is the case, does your dignity lie above the lure of leisure and luxury? Surviving the harsh realities of life is something that we all have learned surpassing all the hustles and bustles of our lives. But, compromising your self esteem for the sake of that ‘starry 15 minutes fame,' wise is not the term I would like the decision to be packed under!

The girl who might have paused, thought and stayed with the pride, decided to pursue the shortcut. The one who could have taken her hardships as a challenge buried the courage to face situations.

And all this not because Shweta gave up on surviving without glamour, but because she gave up on ‘trying' living without glamour!
