Entertainment is far from logics but still is way ahead of many undeserving yet whooping-earner comedy flicks.

Ratings-***

Stars- Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Krushna Abhishek, Sonu Sood, Prakash Raj
Director- Sajid-Farhad
Music Director- Sachin-Jigar

First thing first, Sajid-Farhad directorial debut Entertainment surprisingly stands to its title minus its logics for, which we are hardly given any moment to point out. Initially, there was a doubt over direction of Sajid-Farhad thanks to their not so impressive writing in numerous commercial hits in the past. But the director duo never allowed their past to haunt their new beginning. However, they couldn't help out keeping aside the illogical situations in ‘Entertainment' but it's far better than many of those action-comedy flicks, which reigned at box office only because of the big stars' aura.

Second thing, it's hard to recall, which was the last flim when Khiladi Kumar brought tears in our eyes out of laughter. May be Heyy Babby or Hera Pheri? He barely misses a chance in this flick to chuckle us. Even if the gags are old, its delight to see Akshay back and making those cynical jokes bigger than they are with his brilliant act.

He plays Akhil Lokhande, who is struggling hard for his hospitalized father and but he realizes that the person for whom he is doing three jobs a day isn't his real father. Moreover, he is on a seventh heaven when he realizes that his real father Pannalal Johri is one of the richest diamond merchants in Bankok and he is no more. He flies to Bankok to claim his birth right but his dreams are shattered when he comes to know that Pannalal in his will has given his Rs 3000 cr property to a dog (Junior) named Entertainment.

Entertainment is no ordinary dog and can give anyone on earth a run for the money. Akhil and his friend Jugnu (Krushna Abhishek) plan to assassinate the dog in such a way that it appears to be an accident but they are not alone who are eyeing on this wealth. Pannalal's brother Karan and Arjun (played by Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj) also want the property but on their radar is Akil since they realize Entertainment's shelf life in just 12-13 years. On the other hand, Akhil's girlfriend Saakshi's (Tamannaah) father (Mithun Chakraborty) too has a greed for the same. But who will win it?

Sajid-Farhad narrates this chaos through Entertainment, which guarantees genuine laughs right from the first frame. It was hard for me to believe that actually it is bringing smile on my face, which later turned into a big laugh. Right from the beginning with few surprise cameos, I couldn't control my facial muscle to flex. Sajid-Farhad's efforts were clearly visible in the flick, however, the story line has no innovation but it's the execution, which they keep in mind so that the audience gets what they have paid for. Entertainment!

We wish the story line could have been more innovative. Since, it's their traditional beat of comedy and action, Sajid-Farhad's directorial debut could have been more refined. The concept of a dog being an heir of a massive property is intriguing but doesn't give a required result. However, the director duo's intention to deliver a necessary message is understood and what is more admirable about it is that it comes out without giving much emphasis on it.

While first half is packed with fun, the second half just diminishes the same essence while the climax too is bit abrupt. But who cares when we are supplied with ample laughter doze. The bone-tickling chemistry of Akshay and Krushna takes the lead. The potty humour with wordplay dialogues between them and later on with all, works largely. Celebs bashing each other senselessly deliver an equivalent chortle.

Akshay-Krushna's attempts to assassinate Mr Entertainment are cute and funny while in the second half their effort to fool Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj is amusing.

Sajid-Farhad keep their actors on toes and bring out the required act which is at par.

Krushna Abhishek as Akki's friend and guide is too funny. It's his second outing in Bollywood after ‘Bol Bachchcan' and yet again he grabs the opportunity to deliver a fine act. He runs a movie CD store and thereby he is so filmy that he couldn't resist ending his dialogues without an actors' name.

Tamannaah Bhatia shimmers in the flick and when gets some frame to show her acting prowess she excels is them superbly. Her fake chemistry with Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj is funny too.

Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj too are undoubtedly one of the finest actors and together as Karan-Arjun are superb. Johnny Lever yet again takes his share of applause.

But Akshay Kumar takes the lead as a desperate and hungry for wealth being. His chemistry with the dog and the company is crackling while his performance is brilliant. After giving an intense performance as an army officer in action thriller ‘Holiday', his shift towards comedy is commendable and this would once again bring him accolades.

Music by Sachin-Jigar is good. The songs easily gel along with the flow of the flick but none stays in our wits for long.

I'll go with three stars for Entertainment which is far from logics but still is way ahead of many undeserving yet whooping-earner comedy flicks.
