The alleged incident took place a week ago, but the complaint was lodged only yesterday.
“The 16- year-old girl was raped when she was returning to her village, Bahama, on the night of September 15,” Pathalgaon Station House Officer (SHO) B S Kerketta told PTI.
According to the victim, she and her friend were returning from Dumarbhawana village, over 350 km from here, after watching a dance programme when the accused Jageshwar and Tihali, from the same village, accosted them at a lonely spot.
The victim's friend managed to flee.
A case under section 376 (2) (g) (gangrape) and other sections of Indian Penal Code and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 had been registered against the accused, the SHO said.
Police were looking for the accused, he added.
